WHAT IS KYBELLA®?
KYBELLA® contains an FDA-approved active ingredient, deoxycholic acid which is a naturally occurring molecule in your body. This molecule aids your body in breaking down and removing excess fat. Skillfully administered, KYBELLA® eliminates fullness in the chin (submental fat), or your double chin. As KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells, these fat cells are removed and cannot store or accumulate any new fat.
*FDA approval release: “Kybella® is identical to the deoxycholic acid that is produced in the body. Deoxycholic acid produced in the body helps the body absorb fats. Kybella® is a cytolytic drug, which when injected into tissue physically destroys the cell membrane. When properly injected into submental fat, the drug destroys fat cells; however, it can also destroy other types of cells, such as skin cells, if it is inadvertently injected into the skin.”
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR KYBELLA®?

HOW MANY KYBELLA® TREATMENT SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
As every patient is different and has different chin fat reduction and skin tightening goals, the exact number of treatments varies. Our KYBELLA® certified injectors will discuss your customized treatment plan with you. Patients will need multiple small injections under the chin given at least one month apart. The injection process takes 15 to 20 minutes.* Patients are advised to expect some swelling and redness.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM KYBELLA®?
At Riverside Medical Arts, our patients can expect to see results from their KYBELLA® treatments after 2 to 3 treatment sessions. Patients are advised that the number of recommended sessions and individual results may vary based on your individual needs and rejuvenation goals.
