Wrinkles 101

injection in the eyebrowWrinkles are a natural part of the aging process, but if you think your wrinkles are making you look older than you feel, there are plenty of things you can do to protect your skin and treat wrinkles.

Here’s what you should know:

Preventing Wrinkles

You are never too old or too young to start protecting your skin. Whether you’re 20 or 65, there are plenty of things you can do to improve your skin and hold on to your youth. The following habits will help you prevent wrinkles. Even if you already have wrinkles, preventing future wrinkles will help you maintain your appearance.

  • Keep your skin hydrated and nourished by applying moisturizer daily, drinking plenty of water, and eating a healthy balanced diet.
  • Exercise regularly to keep your health up and improve your circulation. Keeping the blood circulating through your body is an important part of keeping your skin healthy.
  • Do everything you can to avoid sun damage—never use a tanning bed, wear sunscreen and reapply it while you are outside, stay in the shade between 10 am and 4 pm, and wear a hat and sunglasses to shade your face.
  • Remember to treat your neck just as well as you treat your face. If you are applying moisturizer or sunscreen to your face, apply it to your neck as well.
  • Wash off all your makeup and apply a retinol cream before going to bed.
  • If it is comfortable, sleep on your back.
  • Keep your stress levels low.

Treating Wrinkles

Even if you take fantastic care of your skin, some wrinkles will develop as you age. Fortunately there are relatively simple, non-invasive treatments that can reduce and eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Three common options are Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.

While these three treatments have subtle differences, they work in much the same way. All three contain botulinum toxin A as an active ingredient. They work to weaken muscles in the target area to create a smoothing effect. All three treatments have benefits and some are better suited to specific areas of the face. If you’d like to learn more about these options, schedule a consultation at Riverside Medical Arts.

botox st george utahIf you’ve already been considering Botox, take into account the following benefits:

Botox is a non-surgical option. Facelifts are major surgeries. But Botox can provide similar results when administered regularly without undergoing surgery. Treatments every four to six months are optimal. If you’re not ready for a full facelift, Botox can remedy your immediate issues.

Botox lifts the brow. With regular treatments, Botox injections have been shown to gradually lift the brow. Your eyes are an integral part of your youthful appearance. Botox will help you look less tired by exposing your eyes more. A brow lift is often part of a facelift procedure. Again if you’re not ready for surgery, Botox can provide you with similar results.

Botox lessens the occurrence of migraines. More and more patients who suffer from frequent severe migraines also find relief with Botox. You may choose to seek Botox to specifically treat your migraines or it may be solving two issues at once. Either way, your life will be better with Botox.

Botox reduces excess sweat. This benefit doesn’t result from facial injections. But if Botox injections are administered into the armpits, sweating has been shown to decrease. How great is that?!? Not only will Botox help you maintain your youthful appearance, it can help you avoid a common embarrassing problem.

An experienced doctor can provide you with amazing results without performing surgery. Botox treatments have come a long way, and you deserve to reap the benefits. As long as you discuss your expectations with your doctor, you’ll have the appearance you want in no time. We want to make your Botox experience a great success!

Fast and Effective – Why Botox Is the Clear Choice

There are some procedures in the cosmetic industry that have really earned their place on a higher plinth, though none will ever take the place of the most popular and effective of all — Botox. After being introduced as a viable cosmetic product in 1989, Botox immediately took the world by storm. Having proven highly effective in reducing the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, almost all cosmetic and plastic surgery clinics worldwide adopted Botox and began recommending it as a product of choice.

Popular as it is in some circles, a lot of people still don’t understand what it is, how it works, or if it may fit their ownbotox treatment needs. Our clinic receives queries every day from clients who are curious about Botox, so we’ve done our best to sum up some of the key basics to promote better understanding of this cosmetic wonder.

Botox is a drug based upon the Botulinum toxin. The drug is used to treat muscular conditions medically and is now used cosmetically to temporarily remove fine facial lines and wrinkles. It possesses a quality much different from other traditional facial treatments — it works as a muscle relaxant that is injected directly into the desired facial area. Results are immediately seen and wrinkles magically disappear just a few seconds following the treatment.

The procedure only takes a few minutes and clients can leave the clinic within the hour. There may be some slight swelling, but it’s gone in a couple of hours at the most. The result is, of course, temporary. The effects often last up to four months, which means patients are usually treated three times a year for a more permanently rejuvenating effect. Best of all, the treatment is very affordable.
