Waxing is the perfect solution for patients in St. George, UT who are tired of plucking and shaving unwanted hair. Riverside Medical Arts safely provides this service in a comfortable environment.

What is waxing?

Waxing is a common process of removing unwanted body hair. Although the effects are only temporary, it is more effective than other methods such as shaving since the procedure is able to remove hair from the roots and not just from the surface of the skin. As the patient uses the method over time, hair that regrows in waxed areas becomes lighter and sparser. In some cases, they do not grow back at all.

What areas of the body may be waxed?

Waxing can be done on almost any part of the body if needed. However, it is safe to test a small area first to determine any sensitivity to the substance. Typically, areas that may be waxed include women’s legs, underarms, eyebrows, face, and the bikini line. Men may also choose to have their chest, arms, back, and legs waxed. However, beards and the inside of the ears cannot be waxed.

How long will the results of waxing last?

The results of waxing can last 3 to 6 weeks after the client’s first waxing, yet, this will depend on the individual’s hair regrowth. Most of our patients in St. George experience minimal hair growth during the first week after treatment and an increase of it during the third to fourth week. When regular waxing is practiced, the length of time it would take before hair regrows typically increases.

Does hair grow back thicker?

Unlike most misconceptions, hair that regrows is not thicker. Instead, it usually becomes finer and thinner. When waxing is done regularly, hair regrowth slows down. The hair may even stop regrowing altogether.

How can I prepare for my waxing appointment?

We advise most of our patients to avoid shaving or trimming their hair before a waxing session. Having longer hair will make the procedure more effective as the wax can easily grab the hair and remove it thereafter.
