Micro-Needling

Micro-Needling is a recently embraced skin rejuvenating procedure in St. George, UT. Riverside Medical Arts is pleased to offer this innovative treatment to patients who wish to have smoother, younger-looking skin.

What is Micro-Needling?

Micro-Needling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses an automated micro needling technology which makes use of fine needle penetration to promote the surfacing of newer, healthier skin and get rid of the old, damaged skin.

How does Micro-Needling work?

Skin needling involves the creation of small wounds into the skin. This process promotes new skin cells and an increase in collagen production. The depth of needle penetration done will depend on the patient’s skin condition or the skin rejuvenation levels desired by the patient.

What can Micro-Needling treat?

The treatment corrects different skin imperfections, which include lip wrinkles, superficial facial wrinkles, stretch marks, large pores, acne or trauma scars, and pigmentation problems. Furthermore, Micro-Needling is used to help increase the skin’s ability to absorb skin care products.

What should I expect from a Micro-Needling procedure?

During your appointment, you may either be given light penetration, mid penetration, or deeper levels of penetration, depending on the condition of your skin. Light penetration is usually done to make other skin care processes become more effective. This includes skin lightening, pore tightening, hydration, and texture treatments. Meanwhile, mid penetration can effectively treat superficial sun damage as well as light scarring, improving skin texture and minimizing pore size. Lastly, deeper penetration is able to address acne scars, stretch marks, and even burn scars.

What happens after a Micro-Needling session?

A day after your treatment, you will likely experience redness or erythema in the treated area, the extent of which depends on how aggressive the procedure was delivered. Swelling may occur during the second day as the skin develops a pink to red shade. On the third day, most of our patients report a subsiding of the pink color. Our skin care experts at Riverside Medical Arts will provide you with more specific aftercare instructions to promote healing.
